It has been reported to the center that the children in our center has been exposed to Impetigo.
What it is:
Impetigo is a common skin infection caused by streptococcal or staphylococcal bacteria.
How it is spread:
Impetigo is spread through direct contact with an infected person or from contaminated surfaces.
What to look for:
- small red pimples
- fluid-filled blisters
- crusted yellow scabs found most often on the face
- Isolate the child.
- Notify the parents.
- Medical attention is required.
Notify the local health department, they will provide you with further information.
What we are doing to prevent the spread:
- Practicing frequent and thorough handwashing.
- Exclude infected individuals until antibiotics started for 24 hours.
