Jounal 6
1.The confidentiality code was violated with the mother when the director from the old facility gave out information about the family to the new facility. Also when the teacher posted the information sheet up on the wall to have the mom fill out was a violation as well. talking about the mother's child to other parent can cause the parent's not to like the Eric or his mother.2. Confidentiality code with the child was violated when the teacher diagnose the child with a disability. We are caregivers and not doctors. That is why the information given from the other center cause the teacher's to look at the negative behavior in Eric without given him a chance.3. I do not think their should have been any kind of discussion at all between the two director's because i feel like if that if the old director does not like that child she is going to give out negative information to the new director about the family and child and the new director is going to have a negative opinion about the child and his family.4. I feel like the meeting should be between the director, teacher and parent. This will allow the parent to provide information about her child and to see if the parent and center can come up with a plan to meet the child's needs.5/6. I think the teacher should have introduced Eric to the class and encourage his classmates to play with him. Also I would have let him eat the sandwich, remind the parent that the center does not allow any outside foods and refer her back to the parent handbook. I wold also allow Eric to have a sleep toy during nap; some children need security away from home. I feel that the teachers conversation at the restaurant was unprofessional. You should not discuss family situation from the jobs using names at any time or place.8. There should not be any type of conversation about the families and children in your facility because it is breaking confidentiality. 9. As a Director I would not have called the other center about Eric. I would bring that family into my facility as a new experience. I would sit down with the family and let the parents inform me any information the center may need in order to meet Eric needs. I would remind the family that we have a op-en door policy so if they have any concerns they could always come and talk to the teacher or myself. I feel that the teacher should build a relationship with the parent.10. If I was Eric's mother I would not leave my child in that center because I would not feel that he would be treated fairly. He was not given a fair chance from the beginning. Also when i pick him up all I receive a negative report and a diagnose about my child. 11. I would find Eric a center that has not prejudged him and that i along with the facility can find a way to work together to meet his needs. I would also want to feel that Eric and myself is wanted into the program.

Staff meetings can be great for building staff morale. It also allows you to share information and training with staff, which will improve the quality of your program. They can also help you identify small problems before they become large-or identify good ideas earlier rather than later.

When a person approaches you and does not use your name, gives you the cold shoulder, does not make eye contact with you and only greets you with complaints a natural reaction would be to become defensive. I would begin questioning myself, what did I do to make this person act this way toward me? I am a type of person that gets along with most anyone, so I would take this type of behavior personally. I would feel bad for a while thinking I have done something to this person and that is why they are treating me this way. I would also feel a sense of displeasure because if I observe the situation and feel as if i had not done anything to this person; my feelings would then turn to anger and resentment and I would probally avoid this person for a while. I would then observe the situation again looking at it in another prosepective taking in consideration that sometimes, it's not about me all the time. Perhaps that person is being this way because they are going through some personal issues.Sometimes we have to remin ourselves that different personallities approaches situations differently. Since I am working on becoming a professional I would feel that this situation is unsettled so I would ASK that person if it would be ok if we meet privately. This would be an action I would take to try to defuse the situation keeping in mind that no one is obligated to speak to you and everyone personalities are different. when the time is convient for the both of us I would meet with this person allowing the both of us to express our feelings and emotions but myself remaing professional. If this situation is resolved the last emotion would be a feeling of trust. I would feel that now if this person is going through something or does not like something I have done or said they will come to me to talk about what is on their mind.

Outside items- I would explain to the family that even though there are no children in their childs class that are allergic to nuts some children can have allergic reaction just by these items being inside the facility. I would ask the family would they like for the facility to make the cookies for the party so that they will meet the policies and prodceures of the facility or suggest that they look on the iternet for cookies that children can eat that are highly allergic to nuts and purchase those items because the facility also has a policy all foods must be store bought. A teachers request-I would suggest that the employee go and talk to her co-workers and explain to them her situation and grt their opinion on how they feel about getting off every friday at 3:30. If her co-workers are fine with it then the director is fine with it but we will al meet to discuss the situation. ( The director does not always have to solve the problem). If the situation can not be resolve without the dierctor(ledocia) I will suggest that she take some vacation time(A week or two a sub can fill in during that time) to be with her father and also take that time to see if she can fine alternative care for her father on the days that the co-workers do not want to give up the early shift.Lesson plans-I would meet with both teacher's and suggest that the teacher the took the other teachers plans return those plans to that teacher and suggest that they work together to help the teacher create a plan for her classroom. Parent Situation- I would ease the situation by first apologizing to the parent for the situation that happen to his child. I would then explain to him that situations like this happens in a child care facility and that does not mean that we don't care about the safety of his child. i would assure that parent that i will try to be a little more observant in the classroom but, also explain to him just like i am having this conversation with you now the children are safe, but i can't see everything they are doing at this time!!!!!!

Pg. 2 My indentifing audence is, Friends, Church members, Family, teachers, let the people that you come in contact with everyday know that they are important to you as well as you are important to them and keep them informed on what your business is doing so that they can spread the news. pg.4Effective communication- I would have provided the family with documents that would provide the family with information on children in a childcare setting when biting occurs. This sometimes help the families feel that their child is not the only one that this has happen to. Pg 9.I Visualize my business as a childcare center that provides a loving, educational environment for children and to provide our families with the best quality care. I feel that the child care center is affordable the rate is $145.00 a week ages 3-5. We check with the follow center to evaluate their rates for children ages 3-5 and our rates were cheeper. (Child Time, LaPatite) Yes, we provide children with a weekly theme that promtes a loving enviornment and model educztion (
focus portifilos, Develomental Checklist, Creative Curriculium). Our policies are our parent and staff handbook, the program partnership with putnam city schools and also we are a lab school, equipment used is developmental appropriate equipment that meet all the children's developmental areas, curriculum is a weekly theme created by the staff. The Strenghts in the center are the staff works as a team and we also have collabative leadership. Our challenges are we have an open concept for two classrooms and sometimes one classroom interupts the other during noisy activities.
